Student Cell Phone Policy

To support a focused and distraction-free learning environment, student cell phone use is strictly prohibited during the school day from 8:00 a.m. - 3:20 p.m. This includes all instructional time, passing periods, lunch, study hall, and restroom breaks. Students are expected to keep phones powered off and stored for the entirety of the school day. This is in accordance with the 2026 “Cell Phone Ban” law passed by the Kansas legislature.

Students may store their phones and personal electronic communication devices in one of the following approved locations:

Powered off in their vehicle

Powered off in a storage case located in the office (Middle School)
Powered off and stored in a classroom cubby (Elementary School)

Cell phones may not be carried on a student’s person, visible, or used at any time during school hours unless specifically authorized by administration for an approved educational or medical purpose.

Non allowable personal electronic communication devices includes: mobile or cellular phones, tablets, computers, watches, wireless headphones, earbuds, text messaging devices, personal digital assistants, etc.

Refusal to surrender a phone when requested by a staff member may result in additional disciplinary consequences. The school is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged devices brought onto campus.

High School Phone Use While on School Trips/Events

In the event of school sponsored trips the expectation will be communicated prior to the trip if personal electronic communication devices will be permitted during travel and while participating in the event.
