March 12, 2008
On Wednesday March 12th, a group of 45 students from Mrs. Elliott’s Health Science Careers and Mrs. Jones’ Anatomy and Physiology class had the opportunity to explore the BODIES REVEALED exhibit at Union Station in Kansas City. The exhibit is a traveling exhibit of science that is inspiring and educating. First on the agenda at Union Station, was The Human Body: the Movie. This film is 45 minutes of exploring the functions of the systems of the human body and helps to prepare students for what they might see in the 90 minute walk through exhibit. After the movie, everyone enjoyed a quick lunch at Crown Center and then embarked on an amazing journey through Bodies Revealed the exhibit. Students were able to view whole body systems such as circulatory, nervous, respiratory, digestive, endocrine, and reproductive, as well as, diseased organs such as cancers of various organs like lung cancer, reproductive system cancers, and diseases of organs as in the heart, intestines, etc. Students were amazed and expressed their appreciation for such an opportunity.
